In the year it was inaugurated, it won the prestigious Valmor Prize for being the first modern building in Avenida da Liberdade. An eight-storey building with a usable area of eight thousand square metres and a printing plant operating inside.
On April 24, 1940, the inauguration of the Diário de Notícias' new headquarters was a great national event that was attended by the Head of State, General Carmona, ministers, and other emblematic personalities of the time.
Built with elements of modern language, this building stands out for its fluorescent lighting in the lettering, the use of graphic elements in the building, the faceted tower topped by a lighthouse that lights up at night and the majestic hall for the public with the three murals by Almada Negreiros, torn by large windows.
