How are we decarbonising Secil?

The decarbonisation topic and the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are increasingly present in the actions of companies.

 

To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and following the guidelines that have been established for the cement industry sector, Secil Group has committed to reducing CO₂ emissions associated with its value chain, developing a set of projects that focus on the product, operation, and transport.

Strategy to reduce Secil's carbon footprint

  • Product

    We launched the Low Carbon Clinker project to minimise the impact of our products by reducing incorporations, which translates into the cement with less clinker and concretes with less cement.

  • Operations

    We launched the Clean Cement Line project to minimise the impact of our operations. With it, we want to reduce CO₂ emissions by 20%, reduce thermal energy consumption by 20% and reach 30% of our own electricity production.

  • Transport

    We minimise the impact of our activity through the preferential use of sea and rail transport in the circulation of goods and fuels.

Carbon neutrality in the cement industry

At the European level, CEMBUREAU has drawn up a roadmap that sets the goal of reducing 80% of CO₂ emissions by 2050.
