Casa Pacheco de Melo

Context: The plot, bounded by high dry stone walls, is situated in S. Vicente Ferreira, to the west of Canada dos Barões. The entrance to the site is along a longitudinal strip, orthogonal to Canada, at a lower elevation than the platform of the larger area on the south side, flowing into a third parcel that slopes to the west.

One can see the araucaria trees of the S. Vicente central square over the mountainous island background. To the north, a grove of trees hides the sea, giving a sense of the settlement's proximity. The view extends far into the distance to the east and over the boundary wall without any particular event. To the south, the meadows gently rise, surrounded by stone walls, punctuated by isolated trees, until they grow into two hills which mark the "middle" of the island, and between which the road that comes from the other side of the island passes. The land, empty, is divided into three platforms of different elevations.
