About Barra do Douro North Pier

Barra do Douro's North Pier is part of a set of works at the mouth of the estuary.

 

Its objectives are to improve the safety conditions for boats in the channel; to protect the marginal areas of Cantareira and Passeio Alegre from the destructive action of waves and currents; and to facilitate the self-cleaning of the channel, reducing the effort of maintenance dredging.
